Ladders
Your main weapon is the jump chain. A marble that jumps five times travels ten holes in one move; by steps that would take ten moves.
Build for yourself
Place marbles one hole apart along a line towards the goal: such a "ladder" gives the marbles behind a long chain. A good move is often not the one that gets furthest, but the one that sets up a rung for the next marble.
Don't build for your opponent
A ladder doesn't care about colours: your opponent jumps over your marbles too. Before moving, check that you have not opened a long jump towards their goal.
The middle
The centre of the star is the crossroads of all paths. A marble in the centre is useful to everyone; keep it there only if its jumps matter more to you.
