Backgammon: eight variants and a game archive going back to 2001

khorost ✔ · · 2 min di lettura·👁 5

All eight variants, ratings, tournaments and bots are still here — in your browser and in the Windows client. A game archive going back to 2001, the same table options as in the old client, and play without signing up.

Backgammon is one of the club's favourite games, and it isn't going anywhere. While we move the club to new servers and release new games, backgammon works as before — in your browser and in the Windows client. And in the browser it has gained a lot of new things.

Where to play

  • In your browser — on the backgammon page, on a computer or a phone. Nothing to install.
  • In the Windows client — the latest version is on the downloads page, and after that it updates itself.

You sign in the same way everywhere: with your email, using a code from a letter.

Every variant is still here

Backgammon and Narde, Crazy Narde, Longgammon, Hypergammon, Nackgammon, Tapa and Acey-Deucey — each has its own rooms and its own rating. Ratings have been carried over from the old club, and tournaments run as before.

In the rooms with bots you'll find Dendrite_bot, Axon_bot, Synapse_bot and Hyper_Bot — the same bots, with the same names and ratings, only now they play on the new server.

A game in the archive: the dice and the move on the scoreboard, the position after move ten

A quarter of a century in the archive

Finished games have been kept in the archive since 2001 — the old ones and the new ones. You can step through any of them move by move, and the latest ones are shown by the "Telescope" on the home page.

Play without signing up

Invite a friend who hasn't played in the club yet: on the home page and on the backgammon page there is a "Play right now" card — backgammon or narde against a bot right in the browser, without logging in or signing up, with the doubling cube.

Table options

The table's Options have what the old client had: automatic moves, move confirmation, automatic dice roll, flipping the board, point numbering, checker speed and sound. The rules of all eight variants are in the Rules section.

See you at the board!
